The Man in the Chimney: The Unidentified Man of Whatcom County, Washington
On September 20, 1987, an employee of the Georgia Pacific Plant in Bellingham, Washington made a horrifying discovery. While checking a chimney for a water leak around 5:21 in the morning, he instead found the charred remains of a man. He lay on parallel pipes at the bottom of the chimney, his coat under him. The pipes themselves carried water heated by boiler exhaust, and could reach temperatures of 240 degrees - more if the boiler was running.
