What's a Crazy Explanation for a Disappearance, Anyway?
“That’s too crazy.”
“That would never happen.”
“The odds are against it.”
“Occam’s razor.”
All these are phrases you’ll hear a lot in communities that discuss missing persons’ cases. They dismiss one member’s theory about what happened to someone. And in some cases they’re right. (If the explanation is something that has never been proven to happen: “She turned into a bird!” or “He was abducted by aliens!” then it can be fairly safely dismissed.)
But what if Occam’s razor is wrong?
