When Is It Too Long to Be a Runaway?
Runaway kids make up a large portion of missing kids. They’re also some of the cases that get resolved the fastest. Most runaways return home after a day or two. At least half of them are found within six months. Only a few last a year or more.
But some do. Some last until the kid is eighteen. And some last even longer than that.
Which brings up the inevitable question. If a kid is missing five years, ten years, or even longer, should they still be considered a “runaway?” Or should the case be rexamined?
